Pati Bedwell, elder care coordinator at the Elder Law Practice of Timothy L. Takacs, was recently awarded a Certificate in Elder Care Coordination after completing a program offered by The Life Care Planning Law Firms Association in collaboration with The Stockton Center on Successful Aging at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.
The Certificate in Elder Care Coordination enriches elder care coordinators' abilities to help clients and families identify care problems and assist in solving them, and provides professional recognition for the elder care coordinator role within the community.
Elder care coordinators in life care planning law firms help to enhance quality of life for elders and family caregivers during an elder's long-term care journey. Life care planning is a philosophical approach to elder law that helps families respond to the legal, financial and personal challenges caused by aging, chronic illness and disability. Firms that employ this practice model are called life care planning law firms.
Bedwell joined the Elder Law Practice of Timothy L. Takacs in 2015 after spending 15 years as activities director for a nursing home in Murray, Ky., and working more than five years as district long-term care ombudsman where she handled complaints and coordinated training and scheduling for more than 40 volunteers covering a 13-county region in Middle Tennessee.
