Aug 7, 2012, 10:22 a.m.

— Mark your calendars for Friday, August 10 from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. at the Mt. Juliet Senior Activity Center. You will spend the first two hours dining, dancing and chancing. A delicious menu catered by Houston's Meat & Produce will include: a BBQ pork sandwich, cole slaw, potato salad and baked beans with cornbread. Over 60 items will be on display for chancing. Items include entertainment packages, jewelry, art, car care packages, sports items, home decor, handmade items and lots more. Sponsor "Deal Piggies" will provide a floating pig game with five special prizes.

Dance the night away to local bluegrass band, Fast Forward. Awesome door prizes will be announced every 10 minutes throughout the evening. The final hour will include the announcement of raffle and piggy game winners. You must be present to win all prizes. The grand finale will be the Pig-Calling Contest with celebrity judges Mt. Juliet Mayor Ed Hagerty, Judge John Gwin and Judge Andy Wright. Participants will sign up for the contest that evening. The esteemed winner will be awarded the prize of "Penelope" the cement pig - a real beauty!

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The price includes dinner and five free raffle tickets. Additional raffle tickets may be purchased at the event. You must be 21 to attend the event. Proceeds benefit the Mt. Juliet Senior Activity Center and its mission to provide a place for older adults aged 55+ to gather for social, educational and recreational programs and to alleviate isolation and loneliness among the elderly.
