Men get healthy!
June is a celebration of men's health! I was curious as to what health topics are discussed out there for men,and I decided to start with a Google search. First on the list was a popular men's health magazine, so I visited the website and started to read the titles of articles that were highlighted for men's health.
Assisted Loving: Protecting your grandchildren online
Dear Ginger, My grandchildren will be spending part of their summer vacation with us. I am feeling a little frightened because I just read a report saying children are accessing pornography on the Internet. I guess I knew this was inevitable, but I had never really thought about how I could help keep them safe when I’m in charge of them. Do you have any suggestions? They are nine, 11, and 14, and the oldest two are constantly playing on their hand-held computer things.
Shades of Grey: The Obituaries - A captivating section of the paper
Some years ago, I became a regular reader of the obituary section of the newspaper because on most days something interesting or unusual can be found there. One thing I’ve noted is the many euphemistic expressions people have for death. “Went to be with the Lord,” “Promoted to Glory,” “Entered into eternal rest,” “Left this life of pain and sorrow,” “Is now singing in Gloryland,” and, for one who must have loved fishing, “Is casting a line in that great trout stream in the sky.” I suppose the words “death” and “died” seem so final that folks want to avoid them, but that’s what really happened.

Dear Readers, This month, I am featuring some feedback I have received regarding recent columns.
Depression and dementia
Depression and aging seem to especially go together because of so many undesirable changes occurring in the later years.
Shades of Grey: More odds and ends
My title for this piece reminded me of the story about two young doctors, a psychiatrist and a proctologist, who were just beginning their practices. Since money was tight for both of them, they decided to rent an office together. They also decided to pay for one sign with minimum lettering to hang outside. It had two lines: Dr. Smith & Dr. Jones, Odds & Ends.
